V.T.E.C.H Electrical Technology Co., Ltd. has recently completed commissioning and testing works, and in close coordination with the Investor, EPC Contractor, and relevant parties, successfully and safely energized the 110kV Con Dao Substation in Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province. This is a key project invested by Vietnam Electricity (EVN), comprising a 17.5 km overhead transmission line crossing Can Tho City; approximately 77 km of subsea cable connecting the mainland to Con Dao Island; and 8.5 km of underground cable within the island itself. The project also includes the expansion of the 220kV substation Vinh Chau Ward (Can Tho City) and the construction of a new 110/22kV GIS Substation at Con Dao.
The project “Supplying Power from the National Grid to Con Dao District, Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province” was developed with the following scope:
* Construction of a new 110kV transmission line (including overhead line, 110kV subsea cable from Vinh Chau to Con Dao, and underground cable within Con Dao District), single circuit, connecting from the 110kV outgoing feeder bay at the 220kV Vinh Chau Substation (Soc Trang Province) to the 110/22kV Con Dao Substation.
* Expansion of one 110kV feeder bay at the 220kV Vinh Chau Substation in Soc Trang Province.
* Construction of the new 110/22kV GIS Con Dao Substation, designed with a capacity of 2x63 MVA (with one 63 MVA transformer installed in this phase).
With over 20 years of expertise, V.T.E.C.H’s team of specialists, engineers and technicians carried out comprehensive primary and secondary commissioning works at the 110kV Con Dao Substation and the 220kV Vinh Chau Substation. All activities were executed in strict compliance with technical standards and procedures. The scope included insulation testing, ground resistance measurement, AC withstand voltage tests, partial discharge testing, calibration of protection–control–measurement systems, synchronization checks, and equipment interconnection at voltage levels of 220 kV, 110 kV, and 22 kV. The entire process was completed with absolute safety, meeting both schedule and quality requirements.
On energization day, V.T.E.C.H worked closely with the Investor, EPC Contractor, and stakeholders to synchronize the project with the national power grid successfully. The commissioning of the project ensures a safe, reliable, and continuous electricity supply for Con Dao, meeting local socio-economic development demands while strengthening national defense and security. The project also replaces local diesel generation, reduces power production costs, cuts greenhouse gas emissions, and supports Vietnam’s commitment to emission reduction and sustainable development.
V.T.E.C.H sincerely thanks the Investor, EPC Contractor, partners for their trust and support. This success once again affirms V.T.E.C.H’s technical competence and strong sense of responsibility, while serving as motivation for the company to continue contributing to the sustainable growth of Vietnam’s national transmission system.
